The company has received STEP awards for its safety record for more than 10 years.
Established in 1989 by the ABC National Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Committee, the program was developed and written by contractors for contractors. The STEP award provides companies with the opportunity to measure their safety program’s progress, identify areas of improvement and benchmark their performance with fellow ABC members. STEP Gold applicants submit an application detailing their safety performance data as well as an assessment of their performance in the 20 key components of safety.
STEP Gold award winners must meet a minimum gold level score on the 20 key components and have an incidence rate equal to or below the national Bureau of Labor Statistics average for their North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code.
“All of our employees are schooled in proper safety methods. Our field technicians have OSHA 10-hour certification training and our management team and foremen are OSHA 30-hour certified,” said George F. Hayden, president. “ Our company boasts a state-certified safety committee, and our project managers, foremen and team leaders assess the job sites by preparing Jobsite Safety Analyses (JSA) for each of our worksites to ensure proper practices are enforced” he said.
ABC awards are nothing new for Hayden Electric. The company has received more than 20 ABC Awards of Excellence since 1998 for commercial electrical projects it completed. It has also been honored by its insurance company with special recognition and by the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce with its Green Business of the Year and Small Business of the Year awards.
