Hayden Electric host company Safety Day

safetydayGeorge J. Hayden Electric and Communications contractor recently hosted its annual mandatory, company-wide Safety Day, an initiative the company has undertaken for two decades to ensure that all employees are aware of the latest industry safety standards.

Aerial lift machine training, fall protection training, proper recognition and labeling of hazardous materials and a walk-through staging area to identify violations on a simulated job site were some of the many areas of safety that Hayden Electric focused on during this year’s Safety Day program. Employees worked in a classroom environment in addition to having hands-on training.

Hayden Electric President George F. Hayden said, “This company was founded on safety and we have taken safety very seriously throughout our more than 40 years in business. We supplement this Safety Day training with ongoing traning throughout the year. We want all of our employees to be aware of their safety. We feel it’s certainly worth the investment in our employees and the company to take the time each year to do this training. People can’t be safe if they aren’t aware of how to protect themselves.”

George J. Hayden Electric and Hazleton Girl Scouts working together on recycling program

Girl Scouts Hayden 15 copyGeorge J. Hayden Electric and Communications is helping two members of a Hazleton Girl Scout Junior troop turn waste materials into bronze.

Girl Scout Juniors Jade Cahalane and Claudette Orona of Girl Scout Junior Troop 30358 of Hazleton researched and developed a new company recycling program for Hayden Electric’s office in Hazleton. The Girl Scout Juniors selected this as their Bronze Award project. The Bronze Award is the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can receive for implementing a sustainable project that benefits her community.

Hayden Electric President George F. Hayden said, “We’re really excited to have these girls spearhead this new recycling program at our offices to go with the recycling we have been doing for more than a decade with materials used in the field. As a company with decades of award-winning experience with safety and other projects, we’re excited to help them achieve their Bronze Award.”

Hayden Electric participates in American Heart Association's annual HeartChase event

HeartChase800On Saturday, May 21, 2016, Hayden Electric employees and their family members participated in The American Heart Association’s 3rd Annual HeartChase Hazleton event to raise money to help end heart disease and build healthier lives through awareness and education.

The Hayden Health Nuts received a third place participants’ medal for their game day points accumulation and fundraising efforts. Employees of Hayden Electric who could not attend the HeartChase event participated in online fundraising to support the American Heart Association’s efforts.

Hayden Electric donates facility for Stamp Out Hunger food drive

StampOutHungerGeorge J. Hayden Electric staff members and their families volunteered their time to help restock supplies at food pantries throughout Greater Hazleton as part of the 22nd annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive.

Hayden Electric has been donating the use of its warehouse on Maple Street in Hazleton since the drive’s inception. The United Way of Greater Hazleton and the National Association of Letter Carriers coordinate the drive, which restocks local food pantries for the summer and fall months.

Girl Scouts at Office Spring 2016 webHazleton Junior Girl Scout Troop #30358 recently visited the offices of local electrical contractor, George J. Hayden, Inc. for their weekly meeting to work on the Junior Girl Scouts “Get Moving” journey as they pursue steps towards their Girl Scout Bronze Award.

President and Owner George F. Hayden and Human Resources Manager Donna Kozden instructed the troop about types of electrical energy, efficient energy usage, light pollution and ways they can use energy more efficiently in their daily lives. They witnessed the difference in the kilowatt usage between incandescent bulbs and more energy efficient LED bulbs.

George J. Hayden Electric and Communications helps construct Texas substation for TPCO America

Hayden Electric TPCOGeorge J. Hayden, Inc. (Hayden Electric), a local Hazleton contractor, and Primetals Technologies, a new Siemens company and innovative national leader in the steel industry, have partnered to construct a 138kV substation in Corpus Christi, Texas, for Tianjin Pipe (Group) Corporation (TPCO) America.

TPCO America is located in San Patricio, Texas, and is owned by Tianjin Pipe (Group) Corporation, Tianjin, China. This project will involve the construction of a switchyard, an SVC filter system and a 138 kV pole line to meet the needs of local conditions which demand a large load on the power grid in Eastern Texas. The size and scope of this construction project showcases George J. Hayden, Inc.’s expertise in building a three phase substation project of this size for the first time with Chinese-based Tianjin Pipe Corporation.

George J. Hayden, Inc. receives ABC Merit Award of Excellence

George J. Hayden, Inc. won the Award of Excellence from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter for 2014. This award was bestowed upon Hayden Electric for its successful completion of its role as construction manager and electrical contractor on the multi-million dollar Hazle Spindles flywheel facility in Humboldt Industrial Park, Hazle Township.

The awards program celebrates outstanding projects throughout eastern Pennsylvania built by ABC contractors. George F. Hayden, president, accepted the award during the 24th ABC Merit Construction Awards of Excellence event held recently in Norristown.
